Krista Faith was born on October 18, 2017, a beautiful baby who appeared to be normal in every way and a wonderful addition to our family. Unfortunately, on November 20th Krista caught a cold and had to be admitted to Texas Children’s Hospital in Woodlands. Then, on December 4th we got the news that will forever change our world…Krista was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Type 1.

SMA is a degenerative, neuromuscular disease which affects all of a victim’s muscles, even those that are used to breath. It is an incurable, terminal disease that has been described by some as an infant’s version of Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). Moreover, SMA is the #1 genetic killer of infants. The average life expectancy of an infant diagnosed with SMA is 2 years of age.

Once the diagnosis was made, Krista was transferred to the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, where she still is hospitalized. At TCH Krista is getting the specialized care from doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists that she so desperately requires.

We have so many needs right now. First, we are in desperate need of a reliable van to take Krista and her life supporting medical equipment back and forth to her doctors’ offices. Our old car was damaged beyond repair during the hurricane. Next, we need to relocate closer to the Texas Children’s Hospital so that Krista can continue to receive the specialized care that she needs.

Please, if you can help us to buy a van and relocate it would truly be a blessing from God. So, whatever God puts in your heart to give would be truly appreciated by my family and ease the strain that we are going through.
